Gender inequality in developing countries is severe. In Cambodia only 26% of girls make it to secondary education and even less onto University. To most living in rural villages secondary education is not available nor affordable. Families who are able to send children to the city for higher learning are more likely to send their son’s not their daughters. Deep cultural norms have the girls remaining in rural villages to help with the family, work in the fields, fishing or become married at an early age.

It is this gender gap that NGO2 has dedicated itself to addressing. Studies show that increased education of the female population in developing Countries raises the overall strength and stability of families in these areas. “Cambodian Girl Empowerment” is key to the ongoing progress in the Country. The NGO2 mission is to provide secondary education and a platform onto University to narrow this gender gap.
